Retired United respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy notice explains how we lawfully process your personal data, including the collection, use, storage and transfer of your data. The notice provides information about your privacy rights and our obligation to lawfully protect your privacy while using services provided by Retired United.

Retired United (“LSE”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is responsible for your personal data and is the designated “data controller” for the Retired United blog.

Email communications: If you get in touch with us by submitting a message through our website Contact form, we will record your name, email address and any message you send.
Marketing and Communications Data: If you sign up to receive the Retired United Newsletter, we will collect your email address.

We use Google Analytics to track and analyse web traffic in order for us to improve our website and provide us with essential marketing data (e.g. number of page views to our site in a month). Only anonymous data is stored and we take care to avoid any personal data being sent to Google Analytics. We collect this data under the “legitimate interest” lawful basis.

How we use your personal data

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal information for the following reasons:

To respond to requests and enquiries from you, which you have submitted via our email address or website contact form
Where you have consented (subscribed) to receive email marketing communications (the Retired United Newsletter) from us.

Your communication preferences

The Retired United website offers an email Newsletter Subscription service, allowing users to voluntarily sign up to receive information about the Retired United blog. If you subscribe to these updates we will collect your email address. By submitting the Newsletter subscribe form you are subscribing to the Retired United newsletter, your information will be securely stored in WIX.com’s email marketing platform.

If you have previously subscribed, you can use the Unsubscribe link at (at the bottom of all Newsletters) to opt-out of receiving further Retired United Newsletters from us. You can update your preferences at any time.

If you Unsubscribe from the Retired United newsletter, we will keep a note of your email address and your request so that we can make sure you are excluded from future Newsletters.

We will only share your personal information with the following third parties to assist with the processing of your enquiry to Retired United:

Trusted third parties such as Retired United writers, editors and partners.

How we protect your data

In addition, we limit access to your personal data to Retired United editors and other third parties who have a business need to know. You have the right to request access to, and update or correct, personal data held by us. You can email Retired United’s Data Protection Officer at retired.united@gmail.com to exercise this right. We aim to respond to any requests for information within one month and will make corrections based on your updated information. If the request is particularly complex we may have to extend this period to three months, but we will notify you within one month if this is the case.

Where we process personal data based on consent, for example our Retired United Newsletter, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link which we include in all our Newsletter emails.

As well as rights of access and amendment referred to above, you may have other rights in relation to the personal data we hold, such as a right to erasure/deletion, to restrict or object to our processing of personal data and the right to data portability.

If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide certain products or services to you. We will advise you if this is the case at the time you withdraw your consent.
